GENERAL INFORMATION:
OVERVIEW
Since 1995, Coach Troy has produced over 60 exercise videos for endurance athletes around the world. Our first 'Community' Spinervals was taped in 2003 and featured over 100 cyclists and triathletes from the Fort Wayne Indiana athletic community (Spinervals 21.0 -- Aero Base Builder IV). Then in 2004, the athletes from the Minnesota Cycling and Multisport Community 'upped the ante' by hosting a workout starring 200 local athletes in Spinervals 23.0 - Time Saver I! In 2008, we shot three new workout DVDs featuring the athletes from the Freehold, NJ cycling community. Our goal is to produce a professional workout video while offering you, the athlete, a great workout and memorable video experience. Athletes from throughout the world will train to 'your' video for many years to come and you'll have a workout to commemorate your commitment and passion for cycling and fitness.

CHOOSE A WORKOUT
On Saturday, April 18, 2008, we'll be producing ONE workout only for LIFE TIME FITNESS MEMBERS plus TWO separate workout videos open for public registration. LTF members may participate in all three of the workout videos as we'll be accepting registration on a first come, first serve basis. And while the first video featuring LIFE TIME FITNESS members is free, the other two are open to the local cycling community and there is a fee to participate. There are NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERING OF REGISTRATIONS OR TIME SLOTS OF ANY KIND should you be unable to make your selected workout. We ask you to please honor your commitment to attend once you sign up. Thank you.
Your workout will be between 90-120 minutes in duration and will focus on building your aerobic endurance, or training in levels Z2-Z3. Please be prepared to be on your bike for at least two hours, if not more, due to the nuances of video production (lighting, audio, etc.).
CALL TIMES AND START TIMES
Successful Video production of this nature is all about timing. In order to accomplish our goal of video taping three workouts in one day (the 9:00 LTF Workout plus two afternoon workouts), we need to adhere to a very rigid schedule and we'll need your help in doing so.
Your "Call Time" (when you show up on location and get ready for your shoot) will be 90 minutes before we start the workout and rolling tape, or 7:30 am on Saturday morning, April 18th. PLEASE BE ON TIME because we'll be conducting interviews and introductions and will need you for this! Your workout starts at 9am SHARP! If you are not in position when we start rolling, you won't be allowed to participate.
Times to Know: Call Time = 7:30 a.m.
Start Time = 9:00 a.m.
End Time = Approximately 11:30 a.m.
WHAT TO BRING AND WEAR
For the special LIFE TIME FITNESS Cycle Club Video, each participant shall receive a FREE Life Time Fitness Cycle Club Jersey to be handed out at registration and worn during the workout. We'll do our best to have the correct sized jersey available for each participant. The organizers and producers maintain the right to ask a rider to change apparel should they deem them to be offensive to any groups or competitive to the Spinervals brand or for any other reason.
Bring comfortable indoor cycling clothing and your cycling shoes. If you are a competitive cyclist or triathlete, we ask that you bring your bike, your trainer and a riser block. Some athletes will be asked to ride a Kurt Kinetic Trainer. Most people will ride the SPINNER NXT bikes found in the cycle studio. A change of clothing will be required if you participate in more than one video taping.
Please also remember to bring food to maintain your energy levels, or purchase some from the Life Cafe. (XOOD Sports Drink will be served during the video taping.)
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Please read the following rules and regulations carefully. Your safety is our primary concern.
The organizers and producers of the event maintain the exclusive right to deny any person to participate in a workout for any reason.
Arrive at your designated call time and register.
If you are a competitive triathlete or cyclist cyclist, arrive with your bike and trainer in good working condition. Most will be asked to ride our Sponsor's trainer, Kurt Kinetic Fluid Trainers.
You must have slick tires to use on the trainer. No knobby tires will be allowed.
If you have the option, please bring a fluid or magnetic trainer and not a 'fan' trainer due to the excessive noise these trainers create.
Listen to the instructions of the producers.
Come with a great attitude that shines through on camera!
Come prepared to work hard and to follow the intention of the workout.
Do not walk around on the floor wearing your road cycling shoes and cleats.
Please be respectful of Life Time Fitness property. Non-members may utilize the rest room and locker facilities but are NOT allowed to workout in the club.
Please be courteous to other riders, the production crew and other staff.
At registration, you'll be asked to sign a liability waiver and release that will give us the rights to use your name, image and likeness in the DVD and for marketing purposes.
THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP OR RAIN DATE AND NO REFUNDS. Should the taping need to be canceled due to severe inclement weather, you'll be able to order a training DVD from our collection under a $30 retail value. MORE REALLY, SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT STUFF. PLEASE READ THIS!:
This, and all Spinervals Workouts, are designed specifically for performance improvement with intervals structured to help cyclists ride longer, faster and stronger. Please be prepared to do structured and focused intervals utilizing varying cadence and other important cycling techniques.
This class will be shot 'live to tape', meaning there will likely be short 'breaks' in order to insure professional video quality. There will be four cameras. Please be energetic and show your enthusiasm and great personality when a camera turns to you! ('HI MOM' is allowed, but try to be original, ok!?)
Cyclists from around the world will train using this video and use it as an educational tool. Please be sure to use 'good form' during the workout, to the best of your ability.
Once the workout starts, 'the show must go on'! In other words, use the restroom before taping starts. And if you have any sort of emergency during the taping, please quickly depart from the workout area. Our director will make sure to have the camera's pointed in other directions.
Hydration is important during a workout of 90-120 minutes. We ask that you start the workout with at least two full waterbottles. To maintain continuity in the workout, we'll likely offer one very short break so that we can refill. Please listen to the director carefully for a smooth transition.
If you have a Heart rate monitor, please wear it. And cyclists who have powermeters on their bikes, we encourage you to bring them too. Coach Troy will walk around the room and try to help everyone gauge training intensity.
During the video taping of the workout, please do not hold lengthy conversations with your neighbors. Have fun and enjoy the training, but due to audio considerations, we'd like for you to be focused on your workout without a bunch of chit chat. If Coach Troy engages you in conversation during the workout, remember that you are 'on the air' at that time and people will hear whatever you have to say unless we edit it out in post production.
Music for the video will be added in post-production. Sorry - there's no music during the workout, but you'll get plenty of great energy from the other riders! Please DO NOT wear your IPod or other headphones.
Coach Troy will specify 'gearing' , if you're on a road or tri bike and 'resistance' if you're riding a SPINNER NXT. Please have a general idea of your gear ratios on your road bike (big ring/small ring, 12 tooth cog, 15 tooth cog, etc.). For the SPINNER NXT, we use a resistance scale from 1 (very low resistance) to 5 (very high resistance). Please do your best to choose gearing or resistance in-line with Coach's commands.
Before your video taping and during your 'call time', you'll be asked to introduce yourself in front of the camera. Please be prepared to say your: Name. What you do for a living. Your fitness or athletic goals. Again, really let your personality shine through!
Please don't give coach Troy a hard time during the taping. He's very sensitive and his feeling get hurt easily. In particular, please don't bring up his various clothing choices and hairstyles from the late 1990's and his earlier videos. After the taping, you can make fun of him all you want!
Remember to have FUN!! ONLY several thousand cyclists will watch YOU in this video workout for years to come , so show them what you're made of and your passion for fitness and cycling!!
