If you're doing a Fall 2009 Marathon in October, November, or December, you'll need to start your training in June, July, or August! Train according to a program that is tried and true and has a proven track record of success. Developed by Life Time Endurance Run coaches with a scientific training methodology that focuses on using heart rate training zones, this plan will progress you from week one to race day, allowing you to see measurable progress along the way. Each phase of the plan focuses on the various skill sets and energy systems required for successful distance running, from building the 'aerobic base' to boosting your 'anaerobic threshold'.
Following this plan combined with a supplementary strength training routine and a proper sports performance nutrition plan will get you to the finish line as quickly as possible. Choose from the following plans, based on your experience and ability level:
- Beginner Marathon Training Plan:
This plan is for the runner new to marathoning but with some level of aerobic conditioning. Volumes are kept fairly low, with the goal to finish comfortably. Click HERE. -
