In the case of inclement weather on ride day, LTF reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event, at which time 100% of your fee will be refunded. Riding a Century is a rewarding and challenging experience! Your safely is our primary concern. Please note the following 'Rules of the Road':
- Make sure your bike is in good working order prior to starting the ride. We suggest that you have your local bike shop tune your bike beforehand.
-
Please only start the ride if your fitness/experience level is sufficient to complete it. Some regions will have 30-50 mile loops as part of the course in which you can 'drop' if needed. Please check with your ride leader regarding the details of your ride.
-
Please come prepared to fix a flat tire, or other minor mechanical issues 'on the road'. We will have ride leads to assist you, as well as roving SAG in most regions, but it's best to be self sufficient.
-
It is required that you wear an approved helmet, carry a road I.D. with emergency contact information, extra cash and your cell phone.
-
Please start the ride with adequate food/fluids. We'll have additional nutrition on the course as well.
-
Develop a nutritional strategy prior to the ride. While this is not a race, it's still important to manage your fluid and nutritional needs so as to avoid the dreaded 'bonk'.
-
Practice safe pack riding skills. This means pointing to road hazards, verbalizing traffic conditions (CAR BACK!), not crossing wheels, etc. Your ride lead will review these points again prior to your ride.
October is Life Time Fitness Foundation "Charity Challenge Month". Event participants in all myEvents are encouraged to show their support for the foundation by making a contribution at their event. Riders participating in the Century Ride can donate or pledge $0.25 for each mile you ride to the Life Time Fitness Foundation!
